Design Inspiration
Magazine Gap is a road in Hong Kong which creative director Janis Provisor titled the carpet after as it is a street she stayed on many times.
It’s a meandering road with large homes on one side, and a hill that drops off on the other. Janis has often been mesmerized by simple road directions actually printed on the road… that you follow when driving.
The word “Gap” is often used in the UK and UK territories as HK was…when you get on the subway and an announcement comes on that says “Mind the Gap”…the gap being the distance between the roads on the carpet or the negative spaces. In the carpet, these negative spaces are accentuated with sunken or changed texture such as a low loop or a flat weave.
