Scrape Grey

While on an artistic retreat, Principals Janis Provisor and Brad Davis were experimenting with pulling paint across the surface of large pieces of watercolor paper. They used a variety of new and very old painting tools, and unexpected tools like ceramic / clay scrapers, marveling at and observing the vast variety of textures that would emerge with each trial.

SCRAPE GREY is hand-woven with a wool flat weave background and a cultivated silk cut pile motif, to especially emphasize these artistic textures with an interesting relief. SCRAPE GREY is horizontal and tonal in feeling, and serves as a welcome expansion to the Studio’s collection of three-dimensional wool/silk textures.
