Pinto highlights two different weaving techniques, juxtaposing an amorphous motif of wool cut pile on top of a background of flatwoven wool/silk. The design is reminiscent of the dappled coat of a pinto horse, yet is tonal instead of combining two colors. The pattern appears through the different styles of weaving.

The design is interpreted in a blend of hand processed, high-altitude wool and cultivated silk, using time treasured hand-knotting techniques. Meticulous dyeing of the yarns produce complexity and depth of color which enrich the overall aspect of the carpet. The blending of wool and silk creates a shimmery mix that is a delightful expansion of Fort Street Studio’s repertoire of beautifully hand-crafted carpets.
