When sitting down to design new pieces or musing on what comes next, inspiration can come from both within and without.  Janis Provisor often looks at fashion, particularly designers who are idea driven, fanciful and daring.

Straight skirts with large borders of fringes, feathers or fur which created an imbalance are what prompted Janis to design LINKS.  She began to think of how to adapt the embellished skirts into a carpet and wanted to use a technique that could employ various textures along with two design ideas.  The border is “fur like” with a tie-dye dyeing technique to show an irregular variation in color while the “body” of the rest of the design is an irregular pattern based on chain links.
