For Fort Street Studio’s Co-Creative Directors Janis Provisor and Brad Davis, the drive to apply their artistic design aesthetic to innovative materials and weaving styles informed the creation of Swig, Fort Street Studio’s newest introductions in natural hand-knotted wool.
The process began with Davis working with expert artisans to select several natural colors of hand-processed, high-altitude Himalayan wool. They experimented with mixing different types of spinning widths in various ratios to get both fine and rugged textures. Davis then used digital photography to create original artistic designs that would make these unique weaving effects shine.
Swig has a large scale, asymmetrical repeat pattern in flatweave and boucle, that is tempered by a random mixture of fine and rough texture in soft, neutral colors. The carpet contributes a warm and informal, yet sophisticated, atmosphere to any room.
