Fort Street Studio’s co-Principle and co-Creative Director Brad Davis designed Quartz after a visit to his son’s glass blowing studio, where he was inspired by marks on the wall made by a charred paddle that was rich in tonality. Davis blended abrash-dyed wool, cultivated silk, and a high/low pile, to mimic the spontaneous and abstract marks and yield an unusually rich carpet.
The design is interpreted in hand processed, high-altitude wool and cultivated silk, according to time treasured Persian hand-knotting techniques. Meticulous dyeing of the yarns produce complexity and depth of color which enrich the overall aspect of the carpet. Shimmery cultivated silk hi-low accents are carved, in a delightful expansion of Fort Street Studio’s repertoire of beautifully hand-crafted carpets.
